Our Cypripedium x favillianum... SOLD OUT Description Cypripedium x favillianum is the natural hybrid between c. candidum and c. parviflorum var. pubescens. The plant has white to very pale cream colored flowers. The lip size on average is very similar to that of C. pubescens and roughly 2 to 3 times that of C. x andrewsii. Like andrewsii, pouch/lip sometimes has pale rose/purple veining. The pouch rim can also have purple/rose spotting. Greenish-yellow sepals and petals are often flushed with maroon lines or streaks. The flowers usually have a pleasant peony or rose like fragrance. Favillianum tends to have broad horizontal leaves like that of pubescens. Whereas, andrewsii often has more lance like upright leaves closer in similarity to that of candidum. This natural hybrid blooms in late Spring for approximately 2 weeks and is rather easy to grow in moist alkaline soils.
Mystery Solved ?
After growing this particular hybrid, we are now convinced that x favillianum was most likely the original source for
the "elusive alba pubescens" reports as this plant looks very similar to C. pubescens except for the obviously white lip.
