Description Cypripedium Parviflorum var. parviflorum is commonly known as the Small Yellow Lady's Slipper. The plant has 1 or 2 light to dark yellow slipper flowers. Sepals and petals vary from light greenish-yellow with pronounced maroon streaks to dark maroon in color. This variety of parviflorum is distinguished mainly from var. pubescens by its smaller flowers and slightly later blooming period. The flowers can often have a noticeable rose like fragrance. When mature and established this variety often produces 2 flowers per stem. As well, this variety occupies a much larger geographic distribution than var. pubescens. USDA Growing Zones Recommended optimal USDA zones are 3 to 7 Plants may be grown in zone 2 with extra winter mulching protection and zone 8 with extra shade.
